2015: Spring Cub with 402 and 3 Littermates (812 BTB Remaining Male), Speculated[]
811 is suspected to be the lighter 2015 remaining female offspring of 402 . If that is true, than 2015 would be 811's year of birth. 811 would have had 3 other littermates when first arriving at the Brooks River. 812 is believed to be one of 811's littermates. 402 and her 4 spring cubs can be seen from 1:48 - 2:32 into this video by park visitor, Donna Archer:

2020: 5.5 Year-Old Young Adult Female with 1 Spring Cub[]
Timeline of misidentifications for 811:
On 6/28/2020 a young sow with 1 spring cub was first observed at Brooks Camp on 6/28/2020. This sow's identity was confirmed by Ranger Naomi Boak on 9/22/2020 as 811. Throughout 2020 and 2021 this sow continued to be identified as 811.
On 4/20/2022 the 2020 and 2021 lists of Bears Monitored were released by Ranger Lian Law. It was noted that 906 was observed in the Sows with Cubs section for July 2020. It was also noted that 811 was not on the lists of Bears Monitored in 2020 or 2021. Hence it was believed that 906 had been misidentified as 811 in 2020 before the bear monitor lists were finalized. In Mazey's follow up emails to Ranger Lian Law between 4/26-5/2/2022, it was learned that "906 had one cub in 2020, and in 2021, notes indicate no cub." Ranger Lian included July and September 2020 photos of 906 in the email.
On 7/20/2022 a sow with 2 spring cubs arrived at Brooks Camp. This sow was confirmed as 906 via a 7/27/2022 email from Ranger Lian to mazey. "906 is the new sow with 2 springers."
On 9/19/2022 Melissa Freels posted in chat a confirmation of 811 (not 906) as the sow with 2 spring cubs. "I thought you'd all like to see a pic of 811, who was fishing near the cutbank one afternoon last week. You can see her spring cubs in the background in one of the photos. I did have the opportunity to chat with Ranger Tammy about 811, and she confirmed the ID--this is not 906 as has been previously mentioned. She also confirmed that it was 811 who had a spring cub in 2020 but returned alone in 2021."

2020.06.28: On 6/28/2020 a thin blonde sow with 1 spring cub (no natal collar observed) and long legs was observed at the corner of the spit road. The sow looked young, had blonde upright round ears, a small hump, roundish face, slight upturned muzzle and the lower legs were dark. The sow also had a circular shed patch on her forehead. Occasionally a horizontal line is noticed across her forehead between her ears. Lani H 6/28/2020 video.
Explore Resident Naturalist Mike Fitz discusses this young sow seen in Lani's 6/28/2020 video during a 6/30/2020 Text Chat.
"I'd like to take a moment to discuss a mother bear and her single spring cub that we saw on the Lower River Cam two days ago. What can her behavior and appearance tell us about her experience at the river and raising cubs?
Notice how this mother bear is lanky. She's not carrying a lot of body mass compared to other mothers we've seen so far this year like 94 and 128 Grazer. Her cub also appears relatively large compared to her. To me this indicates she's a relatively young mother who has yet to achieve her full body size. In most places in North America, the overall growth of female brown/grizzly bears slows dramatically and can even stop once they begin to reproduce. Raising cubs in food limited environments is a tremendous energetic burden for mother bears and they can't afford to devote much energy into building their body mass at the same time they need to nurse and protect their cubs. In Katmai though, bears have it a little easier regarding food so female bears continue to gain body mass through much of their adult life even as they raise multiple litters. This female, like 719 last year, seems like she could still have some growing to do.
Who is she though? I don't recognize this mother. There are two possibilities. She could be a bear never seen here before, or she is a previously identified bear albeit one I don't recognize. The latter option is more likely, but it's certainly possible that a mother who is not familiar with the river would risk bringing her spring cub here. Although we tend to pay most attention to the well-known mother bears and the large adult males at the falls, other bears like this currently unidentified mother as much a part of the population as the well known bears. We only need more time (and some good camera views) to better understand who they are how they make a living."
This sow with 1 spring cub was confirmed as 811 per Ranger Naomi Boak on 9/22/2020. That ID would later change to 906.

That means not only eating the salmon which are abundant in the river, but vegetation as well. This sow and her spring cub are munching away on grass, in between fishing in the river. 2020.09.17: Leslie Zane (aka lesleezee) share two photos of 811 and her spring cub on 4/4/2021, #1 and #2. "One morning I was sleeping in and my cabin mate was out trying to find 89 at the falls. I heard the door knob and thought that my cabin mate had returned but it was like she never came in so I got up to let her in. Then I felt the opposite side of the cabin shake. I opened the door a crack and 811 and her coy was out there near the porch. 811 huffed at me, the coy jumped and then they left down the trail. There are two trails there that the bears use and that cabin is at the end of the row so you see bears there a lot. I learned to be cautious when I opened the door! Theses were taken by the valley road side of the bridge."

"I made several recordings of who I believed was 811 in early to mid-July and was hoping that by now we might have some confirmation from the rangers that she had returned without her yearling. I'm not absolutely positive this is her, but have been wracking my brain trying to figure out what other female it might be and came up blank."
A closer look at 811, 8/30/2021 video by mckate. "As I said in the previous video, I believe this might be 811. I recorded who I thought was 811 in early to mid-July and had hoped that we might have some confirmation from the rangers that she had returned without her yearling. You can see those earlier videos her playlist. This bear is female and was familiar with the other bears and begging from both 907 and 719."
811 waits for 719's scraps, 8/30/2021 video by mckate. "The lighting is a little better here than in the previous two possible 811 videos. 811 was really targeting 719 for her scraps. Birgitt pointed out that 811 was used to getting fish from 719 who followed the 402 family (402, 811, and 812) around the year she was emancipated in 2016. 811 may well still see 719 as her nanny/family."

"Exciting news release!
811 + 2Y were spotted at BR on 7/27! I had just stepped off the plane and saw a mom and yearling, far away, walking near the spit. At first I thought it was just the mom + 1 but then I noticed cub 2, leisurely strolling far behind mom and sibling. They were headed down the back side of the spit and out of town. They all looked good and healthy! Hopefully they'll stroll back through this fall and stay around a little longer!"

September 2023: First Observed on Explore Live Cam in 2023 Season w/1 Remaining Yearling[]
2023.09.11 or Prior: 811 lost one of her two yearlings on 09/11/2023 or prior; the circumstances are not known to us.
2023.09.11: 811 and her remaining yearling make their 2023 season live cam debut. This is the first time cam viewers have observed this family group on the live cams in 2023. A park visitor observed 811 with her two yearlings in July, however, 811 was only observed with one yearling on the Explore.org live cam today. mckate captured this video of 811 and her remaining yearling.:
2023.09.12: 811 and her remaining yearling fish the riffles in this video mckate captured. Sadly, there is still no sign of 811's missing yearling that she appears to have lost.:

2023.09.14: Mckate captured this video of sisters, 811 (near) & 101 (far), with each of their offspring, fishing the cutbank. 806 and her spring cub make a cameo appearance.:
2023.09.16: 811's remaining yearling charges another bear in this video captured by mckate. The other bear was not visible on the cam view, so the identity is not know. The protection of a mother bear affords cubs the ability to exhibit this bluff charging behavior, mom has their back.:
2023.09.19: 811 and her remaining yearling feed near the cutbank in this video mckate captured. We are still on pee watch for this cub.:
2023.09.20: Is 811's remaining yearling a male (mckate 9/22/23 12:10)? Are there dangly bits at the end of LunaCre's 9/20/23 gif (p 09/22/23 11:43)? More evidence is required to make a certain determination, but the possibility exists that we have another male cub utilizing the river with their mom.
2023.09.23: 811 and her remaining yearling fish the oxbow in mckate's video. Are those dangly bits that are visible when the family group turns around at the beginning of this video? Is 811's yearling a male? Observing urination would really help answer this question with certainty...but until then, this yearling's appeared dangly bits keep presenting themselves when the family group is observed.:
