515 was initially observed on the Explore.org live cams in 2022.
515 was officially initially observed by Ranger Tammy Carmack, KNP&P Bear Monitor in fall of 2024, when he was assigned his bear monitoring number. Keep in mind that a bear must be observed at least 3 times in a single season during official bear monitoring session to be assigned a bear monitoring number.
Ranger Tammy Carmack, KNP&P Bear Monitor has confirmed to LTC that the bear we believe to be 515 is the bear that she has identified as 515.

2024.10.12: 217 arrives for the night shift in this gif created by LunaCre (p 10/14/2024 18:56 #30).:
Unfortunately, 515, the blocky-nosed boar wanted 217's night shift fishing spot too and sneak attacked 217. 515 and 217 got into a lengthy stand-off as a result of the fishing spot competition.
At approximately 21:28 AKDT, 515 jumps an unsuspecting 217 in this video captured by mckate. 515 & 217 both like to fish this spot at night, but 515 has kind of taken it over lately, so wasn't happy to see 217 sitting there. 217 threw some pretty good punches probably out of sheer terror. We don't know how it all ended because unfortunately the cam turns off automatically at 9:30 pm, but it looked like 515 might have been moving off.:

Why 515 Does Not Have An Official Nickname:[]
515 does not have an official nickname. KNP&P is moving away from giving the bears nicknames.
As a "placeholder", before 515's bear monitoring number was provided to cam viewers/park visitors, cam viewers referred to 515 as "blocky muzzle boar" and "blockhead boar". These are NOT official nicknames.
