In 2024, Ranger Tammy Carmack, KNP&P Bear Monitor, described 514 as an older subadult male with a scar on his left hip.
mckate's playlist notes that 514 was mis-identified as 204 since 2022. We are working on sorting out which videos, gifs, snapshots & photographs that appear on 204's wiki page are likely 514. Please bear with us as we figure these two bears out. Please also note that the 2022 live cam observations were of a bear that was NOT officially identified by KNP&P's Bear Monitor, Ranger Tammy Carmack.

LTC is attempting to confirm with Ranger Tammy Carmack that we (cam viewers/park visitors/wiki users) are identifying 514 as the bear that Ranger Tammy is identifying as 514.
Distinctive Behaviors:[]
In 2024, 514 seemed more comfortable/less skittish fishing in the lower river area in the late evenings. Possibly 514 felt more comfortable because it was quieter with fewer bears in the area. 514 was often observed fishing near the cutbank.
Life History:[]
It is believed that 514 was initially observed on the Explore.org live cams in 2022. At that time, cam viewers mis-identified this bear as 204. Ranger Tammy Carmack, KNP&P's Bear Monitor did NOT officially observe and identify this same bear as 514 during the 2024 season. We do not know if Ranger Tammy Carmack observed this bear during 2022.
514 was officially initially observed & classified by Ranger Tammy Carmack, KNP&P Bear Monitor, in fall of 2024, when he was assigned his bear monitoring number. Keep in mind that a bear must be observed at least 3 times in a single season during official bear monitoring session to be assigned a bear monitoring number.
514 being mis-identified as 204 by cam viewers/park visitors/wiki users in 2022 and again in fall of 2024 (prior to learning about 514's new identification/classification) leaves wonder if 514 could potentially be 205 (204's speculated male littermate). It would be interesting to know what Ranger Tammy Carmack thinks about that possibility.
