McKate's ID Tips: 344 is a compact fellow who is dark brown with a hint of blonde on this head and neck. In late fall he has darker hat, beard, and mane. 344 has a slightly upturned muzzle and his ears stick out parallel to the ground.

Mckate's Notes: 344 first appeared on the cams in 2020 as a very small subadult whose videos I began filing under the 2019 bear, 21. In 2022 he was assigned the number 344. His parentage is unknown. In 2020, 344 was seen fishing on all parts of the river. There is a cute video by Kara of him playing with 164 on September 6, 2020 which was the first day he was spotted on the cams. In 2020 and 2021 he was mostly seen in September and October, but in 2022 also made an early season appearance. 344's playmates have included 29, 101, 129, 133, 164, 208, and 230.
