Identification numbers provided by Ranger Tammy via Melissa Freels on October 16, 2022. Mckate's ID tips: 224 begins the season quite blonde, but darkens retaining her blonde bonnet and wide W-shaped natal collar. Sometimes it appears that she's wearing a t-shirt. She is statuesque with a longer muzzle, but it is not boxy like her mother's. Mckate's 224 YouTube Playlist.

Mckate's Notes: 224 is one of those fortunate cubs who had an extra season with her mom. It gave her time to develop her hobbies which include beach yoga and pole dancing. The 94 siblings were emancipated in 2021. They were all seen briefly in July and the sisters returned for most of September and into October. The girls seemed to stick together once they'd found each other, as newly emancipated siblings will do. They didn't venture above the lower river which is where their mom mostly raised them.

This might stem from Roxie picking up on 909's nervousness a couple of days back. I got a kick out her looking to make sure 909 had her back, and then celebrating at the end with a good tree marking. "I suspect someone spilled some gasoline or diesel fuel there. Bears love the smell of it. In fact, when I was a ranger I discovered a fuel leak at Brooks Camp by watching bears investigate the same place over and over. There are no underground tanks or fuel lines there, so might've been a small amount spilled on the ground."

402's male yearling chases single adult female 224. Did 402's cub see the sow (224) with her fish and mistake 224 for his mom, 402? 402 appeared to do her best to head her yearling off at the pass. It is uncommon to see a yearling chase a sow, even when the sow has a fish. It would have been nice to see how this interaction ended. Mckate captured this video of the event:

2023.09.23: 224 is annoyed by, but protective of her sister, 225 in mckate's video. mckate shared the following information in the description of her video: "225 has been shadowing 224 ever since her return, and 224 is growing weary of it. (909 and 910 went through something similar at this age.) 224 yelled at her sis to stay put on the spit and then left, but no more than 30 seconds later came charging back to warn 225 about a large bear approaching. At their size, I don't know why this would be a concern, but 224 still clearly feels protective. They left the spit and swam until they reached the road, then 224 allowed 225 to follow her.
