209 Beauty had dark eye rings. Ranger Roy Wood once described 402, 209's 1998 offspring, as "the beautiful bearded lady". 209 Beauty had that same "beautiful beard".

209 Beauty was known to fish the lip of Brooks Falls, was observed diving for fish, and would also use the falls with spring cubs (aka COY, cubs-of-the-year).

2000.09.18: 209 Beauty and her two 2.5 year-old cubs (not yearlings) were observed in a boat parked along the shoreline of Brooks River in the vicinity of the spit. Two life jackets were reported damaged.

How 209 Beauty Got Her Nickname:[]
It is not known to us how 209 Beauty got her nickname. It does seem possible that she was referred to as "Beauty" because....well, just look at her...she was a beautiful bear.
