Known Offspring of: 205 is the suspected offspring of 273 and sibling to 203 and 204. There is no way to really confirm the link between subadults to the mother and siblings without DNA results.

205 is a small subadult with a brown coat. In fall 2021, he had an unshed head with darker fur around the eyes.
Mckate's ID Tips: From a_lisa, 205 "has the dark fur around the eyes that gives him a bit of a disgruntled panda expression." His face is more round than his sisters and he has a shorter muzzle. His triangular ears sit high on his head and he has a blonde chin.

Distinctive Behaviors:[]
Mckate's Notes: 205 was a highly social cub and approached and tried to play with other cubs and even subs in 2020. He and his sisters were emancipated in 2021. While the sisters stuck together, he struck out on his own. I believe he did join them at the falls for brief periods, but am not certain the videos I have are of 205. He was seen by the bear monitor in September looking like he'd grown a great deal and maybe because of that was not quite as pudgy as his sisters.

How They Got Nickname:[]
205 does not have an official nickname. The NPS has moved away from naming bears at KNP&P.
While waiting for an official ID number, 205 was referred to as "Derika" then "Derek" by bear cam viewers. The unofficial nickname was changed to "Derek" when it was learned that he was male and not female as previously believed. This is not an official nickname.
