Known Offspring Of: 204 is the suspected offspring of 273 and sibling to 203 and 205. There is no way to really confirm the link between subadults to the mother and siblings without DNA results.

204 has a darker coat than her female sibling 203.
Mckate's ID Tips: 204 is the tallest and the darkest of the siblings. She has a straight narrow muzzle, slightly close-set eyes, and triangular wide-set ears. Early in the season she is a dark golden to light brown. As the season progresses she becomes a darker grizzled brown and develops a puffy somewhat blonde bear hat.

204 was occasionally seen with her sibling 203.
Mckate's Notes: 204 and her siblings were emancipated in 2021. She and 203 were seen fairly frequently at the falls and in the riffles in July. It's fortunate that their mother had shown them this fishing spot as cubs, because conditions on the lower river weren't good because of the high water and late fish run. 203 and 204 became good scrapers profiting from the leftovers of larger bears before going on a mid-summer walkabout. They returned to the falls in September looking very well fed.

October 2024 cam viewers observed 204 urinating and 204 is a male, not a female (shehikes 10/6/24 17:21 comment in reply). Need to find video & date. Scroll the thread that is linked to left and note that shehikes later replied that the bear in the photos was really 212...but also consider the 2024 Official Bears Monitored List from Ranger Tammy Carmack and the mis-identification of 514 as 204 by cam viewers in 2022 - 2024. 204 may actually be a female since the bear that viewers was seeing was likely 514, not 204. 514 is a male. The photos shehikes originally posted in the 10/6/24 17:21 comment may be 212 or 514.
How They Got Their Nickname:[]
204 does not have an official nickname. The NPS has moved away from naming bears at KNP&P.
While waiting for an official ID number, 204 was referred to as "Nigella" by bear cam viewers. This is not an official nickname.
