2021.07.03: A sow with 2 yearlings or older cubs was seen on spit road and the spit on 7/3/2021, video by Hey Princess, (not believed to be 284). Chatters were not in agreement as to the ID. The sow did not appear to resemble any known sows who would have yearlings or older cubs in 2021.

"DNB" (damaged nose bear) , also seen in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020. This bear was classified andgiven bear ID # 299 in 2021.[]
This male bear has been seen over multiple seasons He usually appears in the fall and does not appear to be habituated to human presence. He has been described in multiple ways, has deformed/scarred nostrils with a left shoulder scar, split deformed nose/scarred nostrils, wide muzzle/damaged nose. In each year seen he has a scar on his left shoulder. Not all 2021 dates seen are included on this page. For all 2021 sightings see the Bears Seen in 2021 page. 2021.06.15: A blonde sow with 2 spring cubs was observed running along the spit road late in the evening on 6/15/2021. The sow had big ears and seemed to have a limp involving the back right leg. Is this the same sow that was seen on 6/13/2021? Video by Birgitt.

A limping, injured sow with one cub were observed on Dumpling Mountain at 05:44 AKDT. Cam viewers captured these snapshots and created these gifs.
At 05:44 AKDT, Chiri captured this time stamped snapshot of the injured, limping sow on Dumpling Mountain. At approximately 05:45 AKDT lisa_ann observed the injured, limping sow with a cub on Dumpling Mountain and captured this snapshot. Pine Butte captured these snapshots (#1 & #2). 2021.05.19 or prior: KNP&P posted a photo of a subadult on their Facebook page on 5/19/2021. The photo was taken a few days prior by T Carmack. Some chatters believe this subadult to be 29.

2021.06.04: Ranger Naomi Boak stopped in chat on 6/5/2021 and posted three photos of a subadult at the picnic area, #1,#2 and #3. Ranger Naomi commented "Wow. A lot of impatience here. Well, I am with you. Looking forward to cams and bears and more bears. Ranger Nick and I saw our first bear fishing in the lower river yesterday. There are a handful of salmon and a few trout." In answer to a question if this subadult was keeping an eye out for birds, (in reference to the gull eating bear from last year) Ranger Naomi answered "You might be right. He/she did dive a bit." A number of chatters believe this may possibly be "Gully." Some chatters think "Gully" may be 903. Mike Fitz confirmed that the gull eating subadult seen in 2020 was 903 during a 6/14/2021 live chat. Note: 903 is now considered an adult male in 2021. His sibling 902 was given that designation in the 2021 Bears of Brooks River eBook, page 55.

2020.06.12: Ranger Naomi came on the chat in the evening on 6/12/2021. She commented about a subadult who had become unruly in camp.
"So many things happen behind the scenes. There is a young subadult that has been roaming around camp and will not take no for an answer. One of the bear techs had to use bear spray on it last night (6/11/2021). It is back again roaming around and not wanting to listen to the bear management team. It even was tangling with 128 (Grazer). That didn't last long.
I steer clear. When there is a young bear like that around I stay 50 yards behind the bear tech with an easy escape route in sight. I think it a bit unusual that such a young subadult is so recalcitrant. A bear tech and I are guessing -- just guessing mind you -- that it is one of 94's emancipated cubs. It seems young but not small enough to be a 2.5 year old. And we really didn't have a subadult this troublesome last year. Like I say -- it's pure speculation. Here are a couple of pictures."
